The screen size is much smaller. It is lighter and thinner than any other model. It now supports the retina display and includes the A6 chip which is good but outdated compared to the full size iPads. It has the 5 megapixel camera like the newer iPad though.
The original iPad Mini does not come with a retina display. This model also includes the A5 chip, not the A6.
That depends. If you can live with the smaller size of the iPad mini you might be happier with that one. Personally I would still like the bigger size of the iPad.
