When buying a PSU, you need to take into account how much energy your computer's actually going to need:

- The Graphics Card is going to be your biggest drain (if you have a separate graphics card)

- A powerful Processor will need a lot of power

- The more fans you have, the more power you need

Essentially, each component will have a requirement, and that should be stated on the packaging/website e.t.c. Check that, and make sure that whatever that adds up to, your PSU gives that and then a little bit more (you don't want the PSU being pushed to its limit)

The higher the better really. In actuality anything over 400 watts should be fine unless you plan on having a lot of extra toys.
