What is the difference between system utility and system component?
A component is a piece of the system, and is vital to the
operation of the system or another component thereof. For example,
a driver is a component that allows the system software to
interface with hardware, and is the only way that a user
application can interact with that hardware. A system utility is
not vital to the system's operation, but can help diagnose problems
and keep the system running smoothly.
