actually the differance between the ipad and a laptop is, laptops you can multi-task on and a ipad you can't. The ipad is thinner and you can download as many apps as it allows you to. A laptop you upgrade as were a ipad you can't. The simialatries are they are both portable, but for people not so strong or even small they can not carry a laptop around all day. As were the ipad is much more lighter then a laptop.
laptops have potentially larger screens, laptops have tactile keyboards, laptops generally will have more horsepower though that may not be all that important to you, the ipad would generally have longer battery life, its smaller.
An apple iPad is much more useful than a computer, you can interact with the iPad itself and take notes on it by hand, with a pencil, even textbooks are now available on iPads. They are truly genius devices that are very amazing.
