stainless is steel. aluminum is aluminum
Extruded aluminum is generally stronger than cast aluminum due to its uniform grain structure, which results in better mechanical properties and greater structural integrity. Cast aluminum may have variations in its grain structure and density, making it more susceptible to cracks or failures under stress. Extruded aluminum is typically preferred for applications that require higher strength and durability.
The extruded bar would be produced by pushing molten aluminum through a die. Where as the other option for making the bar would be to cast it in a mould. The extruded bar would probably have smoother sides and would be available in longer lengths.
The heat sink absorbs the heat from the processor and then the fan disperses the heat.
Extruded aluminum is used for a wide range of purposes from simple components like doors and components of computers, tents, trailers, power tools and kitchen appliances to components of the International Space Station.
A heat sink is a device that allows the transfer of heat away from the heat source. It can be in the form of a paste or jelly or a simplealuminum structure which is attached to the heat source. Virtually all microprocessors in computers utilize a heat sink to transfer the heat of the CPU to the aluminum which can 'shed' that heat into the air (air transfer method). Some CPUs are water cooled; one might say that this is a 'water heat sink' but that really isn't true.
Sink
The thermal conductivity of copper is higher than that of aluminum, and silver is better than either copper or aluminum.
If you change the processor to one that generates more heat than the sink can dissipate you will need to put a larger sink in your computer, but if the processor is the same and you haven't overclocked or anything, the sink will last forever. It's made from cast aluminum and just sits there. It won't wear out.
A few porducts of aluminium die casting are heat sink, and metal stamping. Distributors of foreign-made aluminum die castings are less expensive. You can find aluminum dye casting on the kitchen faucets of your sink. You can also find it on connector housings.
Aluminum powder will sink in water because it is denser than water.
A Fan sink is a Heat sink with a fixed FAN. Heat sink's are blocks of metal, primarily used are are copper, and aluminum, that draw heat from a source ( such as your Processor, or another heat producing chip set ) and spread it across its surface area to be air cooled. A Fan sink, combine's the heat drawing of it's sink with a dedicated fan blowing air into ore out from the heat sink below it. This will significantly improve the sinks cooling power. So a processor cooler is most likely a Fan sink, but some chips surrounding it may only have a heat sink. ( Southbridge controller is usually placed near your CPU and is fitted with a black block of metal that has a lot of blades on it )
