The only reason someone would use an advanced search is if they didn't find what they were looking for with the first search. First searches usually turn up what a searcher is looking for and rarely is the advanced search option used.
An advanced search is a more thorough search with multiple filters to find specific information. For example, you can do an advanced search on a forum for a specific topic in a specific thread by a specific poster.
If you know what you want from Google search but have failed finding desirable results, then you can find it by using the advanced search option of Google.

There are various advanced search options offered by Google. Some of the advanced search options offered by Google are the ability to find pages with "all these words", " this is exact word or phrase ", and other options as well.

Concerning Google, the advance search option helps to add more details to the query being made. For instance if I wanted to have 100 results on the page, I could make this change in the advanced search options.
