The computer keyboard is the same as the typewriter keyboard. The typewriter did have special keys that were not on the keyboard, like the tab keys that indented. The keyboard also has extra function keys that were not on the typewriter.

1. a panel of keys that operate a computer or typewriter. 2. a set of keys on a piano or similar musical instrument.
A typewriter is like a keyboard without the computer. The computer keyboard is based on the typewriter. To use it you put the paper in the top bale and rolled it so the keys could hit the paper. There was a ribbon of ink between the paper and the keys, so when you hit a key the typewriter ribbon hit the paper with the letter inked. If correction was needed the paper had to be changed.

The typewriter is just like your modern, computer. Only the keys get higher, which makes it kind of difficult to use. It can really be as simple as getting a piece of paper, clipping it in, and pressing on the keys to make words!
The layout of letters and numbers and most symbols are the same, as well as the other keys such as space, shift and tab. Most computer keyboards have a set of function keys and a number pad not found on a typewriter.
The red keys on a typewriter are used for typing special characters or symbols. The white keys are used for typing letters, numbers, and punctuation marks. The keys work together to create text on the typewriter.
