You could try using a different version of the video drivers. Most often, you want to move forward and keep up to date but there have been some occasions in which using an earlier version of the drivers actually allowed more stability. Research your specific card's drivers on the internet and see what other owners suggest as a stable version of your driver.
On another note, if you have a card based on an nVidia chipset, then you might consider swapping it out for an AMD-based card. In my professional experience, I have found the AMD drivers to be much more stable. nVidia cards oftentimes lock up and crash so that the screen resets to basic 800 x 600 VGA and the only way to correct that is to reboot the computer. I've never seen that with AMD drivers (and I've been in the business for over 25 years by this point).
