It all really depends on the group of children you have, teaching/learning styles etc. Here are a few things off the top of my head: Finding out each child's interests and what motivates them. Goal setting - sharing and explaining results to children and parents and bringing them aboard to help each child as a team. Having high but realistic expectations - letting the children set their own expectations Reflection time - let the learning sink in Discussion - talking about issues, both planned and unplanned discussions about things that are meaningful Remembering that each child has a different style of learning and catering for that style Being enthusiastic Going for a run around outside - get the blood flowing Monitoring how the children are going - if they are getting tired or losing focus, change activity for a few minutes Letting children take responsibility for their learning and actions. Keeping to a routine, and structured timetable. Planning and learning with the children, discussing learning intentions and success criteria Not talking down to children! Talk at their level but don't belittle them.
