The strip of mirror is mounted to help eliminate parallax errors when reading the value on the scale of the voltmeter. By aligning the needle's reflection with its actual position on the scale in the mirror, the observer can avoid viewing the needle from an angle, which could result in an inaccurate reading due to parallax. This setup ensures a more precise and accurate reading of the voltmeter.
The mirror is usually a highly polished, thin metal strip bent into a right-angle. Looking through the hole, you will see the coloured plastic beads and bits reflected in the two mirrored surfaces giving thekaleidoscope effect.
Use a small torx bit and unscrew the keeper screw. Sometimes Allen wrenches can be used in torx just be careful not to strip out the head of the screw.
The mirror will pop out of the housing. It is very difficult to do but it can be done. If yours is broken I would recommend buying a new housing and mirror off eBay. If you can find just the mirror you are lucky. Anyway, the back of the mirror looks like plus sign +. The mirror is attached using 4 screws that are on the tips of the +. To move the mirror the motor screws in or out. Move the mirror to the extremities and the pry each side out one by one. If you pull hard enough on the mirror you can get the screws to come out. So...if you are lucky enough to find a mirror then you will need to be lucky enough not to completely strip the motor when you pry out the mirror. It's really easier to install a new mirror I promise. To install a new mirror just remove the triangle piece on the interior and then unbolt and disconnect the wiring.
the two different sets of symbols is the....... 1:scepter and mirror and 2:swan and dove i think the second one is correct though
To help the user avoid this problem, the scale is sometimes printed above a narrow strip of mirror, and the user positions his eye so that the pointer obscures its own reflection. This guarantees that the user's line of sight is perpendicular to the mirror and therefore to the scale. Parallax is thus avoided.

Proof sets are coins which have been struck on special polished blanks with special polished dies. They are not intended for general circulation and are made for collectors. The details on the coins are much more defined and the luster of the coins gives them a mirror like surface. Recent proofs have a "frosted" appearance on certain elements of the design.
