to control aircraft and videogames
A computer peripheral, or peripheral device, is an external object that provides input and output for the computer. Some common input devices include: * joystick * pen tablet * MIDI keyboard * digital camera * video camera
Joysticks are commonly used as control devices for space simulations and games, allowing users to maneuver and navigate spacecraft in three dimensions. They provide a more intuitive and immersive way to interact with the virtual environment, simulating the experience of piloting a spacecraft in space.
In years past, and in some small aircraft today, the joystick controls the elevator and ailerons of an airplane. In more common use today, the joystick is a device moved by hand to provide an input to a computer or game system to control functions in a program, such as a game.
Some devices that are not commonly found on computers anymore are ISA Devices such as riser cards, and older video AGP cards. Other older devices that are not common today are PATA/IDE storage devices, such as the CD-Drive and Hard drive.
The Mouse The Keyboard The Joystick
A joystick is probably the most common input device you'd think of when it comes to games. However, you could also use a flight controller, a trackball, or a mouse. But generally, you'd use a joystick unless you are playing a flight simulation game that requires a flight controller.
The keyboard or a representation of one is the commonest. My opinion.
