The Celeron D is a single core processor because that is how Intel designed it.Sounds trite, but that is the truth. Each processor chip is designed to meet a particular performance / price ratio, and that is how the Celeron D turned out. Simple, eh?
The original Intel Celeron processor was not as popular as expected because it lacked the level 2 cache to help reduce the price of the processor. With no level 2 cache, the processor acted much slower than the competitor processors.
