Actually extension or format is jpeg but older computers allows you to have only 3 letters for extension or format and that's why this extension or format is shortened. Nowadays newer computers allow 4 digit extension and everybody ussualy use 4 leters or digits. If you want to send file to somebody who have older computer then save and send file with 3 digit extension .jpg. To rename from jpeg to jpg simply right click on windows computers on file and choose rename, then delete letter e in jpeg and press Enter. This will not make any difference to file and confirm renaming when Windows display warning.
