1980's prices being served at only 60p a pint
A pint of beer is 16 oz (US) or 20 oz (Imperial), depending what pint you use. In Ibiza beer is most likely sold in litres.
Liquor is sold in sizes based on the "fifth." A fifth is 1/5 Gallon or 4/5 Quart or 750mL (approximately - see below). A pint is 375mL (a real pint is actually 500mL [again, see below] ) or half of a fifth. Liquor bottles are general sold, however, in 750mL bottles. In addition, there is a larger size, often known as a "forty." It is 40 fluid ounces (and, correspondingly, 40 servings), which works out to 1.14L.Alright so this dude who wrote the second paragraph is either a) 3 sheets to the wind because he's had too many 40s or b) being ironic. In either case, a forty (40 oz) is a measure by which malt beverages are sold, this being opposed to distilled beverages, or liquor, which is sold by the measures outlined in the first paragraph of this answer. I would also note that a real pint is not 500mL, unless Jupiter is aligned with Mars, in which case it is, peace will come to the planets, and love will heal the stars. Ok, so it's close--473.18--but that 26.82mL can make a difference, know wh'msay'n?Okay - Apparently the guy who wrote in the 3rd paragraphisn't completely familiar with all the options for purchasing distilled beverages, or liquor. Yes, a "forty" is a familiar term for a large bottle of malt liquor, but you can, in fact, buy liquor such as whiskey, rum, and vodka in a 1.14L container, called a "forty." (Although I believe that 1.14 L is actually about 39 oz.) An even larger bottle is available in the form of a "sixty," which contains 1.75 L. At least the is the case here, in Canada; things may differ in your area. As for the question of the pint, well, an imperial pint is something like 568 mL, an american liquid pint is about 473 mL, and an american dry pint is about is about 551 mL. Historically, in some European locations, a pint was well over a Liter. (Hence, part of the reason that so many of us switched to the metric system.) I think we can all agree that a pint is not 375 mL.
alcohol is over 103gallons a month
The amount of alcohol sold per capita in the U.S. has been declining over a period of years.
One half of a quart is called a pint. Things like jam and cream are often sold in pint size containers.
Bootleggers sold illegal alcohol to consumers and helped to bypass the laws.
Milk is not sold at retail by the pound, but by the gallon, quart, and pint.
Moonshine (illegal, homemade alcohol), was commonly kept in crockery jugs with a cork stopper. It was also stored in canning jars, both pint and quart size. Moonshining became quite popular during prohibition, when alcohol was declared illegal. Those who made, sold, and distrubuted moonshine were called "moonshiners".
the quantity of alcohol bought and sold in the market is reduced
There are about 568 millilitres in a pint in Ireland. A pint is sold in a pint glass, which in Ireland is just over 19 US ounces or exactly 20 Imperial ounces. You can also get half pint glasses in pubs in Ireland.
