A gigabit is 1000 times the size of a megabit, I believe. If this is the same as bytes (I believe the values are 1/8 of bytes), meaning 1000 (1024, really) megabytes = 1 gigabyte, then 1000 (1024, I assume) megabits = 1 gigabit.

Either way, giga is always greater than mega, whatever the suffix is.

What is a Cisco 24 port gigabit switch used for?

It is not a complete necessity to have a gigabit Ethernet switch but it will increase processing speed to 1,000 Mbits per second. Earlier forms of the Ethernet switches were in the 10 to 100 megabit range.

Is megabit's fast speed?

No. Megabit is a measure of the amount of data. You can stream it slowly or fast.

What are the levels of Computer data storage?

In ascending order (least to greatest), it goesBit, byte, kilobit, kilobyte, megabit, megabyte, gigabit, gigabyte, terabit, terabyte, petabyte. I think petabit MAY be right between terabyte and petabyte, but it is underlined when I type in to my computer, so I am not sure.
