Mac is a computer brand from Apple. As far as if it's better, everyone has a different opinion. I am NOT saying this from a bi-est view but I think Macs are better. Yes there are some ways in which PCs are better (for example Apple WAY overcharges for everything), I'm not arguing that fact. If you are willing to save the money, Mac is the way to go. If you just want a simple computer with simple software, PC is the way to go. Your choice.

If you look on the internet you'll find this is a complicated and controversial question. However, I would argue that applications are what you use computers for, so you have to think about what applications you want to use - some applications only run on Windows others only on Mac. For example, there are some video editing suites that only run on Macs - however "good" one thinks Windows is, if it doesn't run the application you need to run, then it isn't that good for you. Conversely, if you want to modify image metadata, it's easy with Windows Explorer, but impossible with the MacOS finder - so, however wonderful you may think MacOS is, Windows is better in that situation.

It depends. on your personal preferences... so here are some facts:

Macintosh computers tend to cost more money up front. They are pretty much ready to go out of the box with very little set-up with fairly simple directions for anyone "new" to having a computer. Anyone who has had one before *MAY* have difficulty adjusting to the subtle differences between a Mac and a PC. Many schools utilize these computers because of the ease of use.

Macintosh computers have built-in safeguards for viruses which hackers do not tend to target as much as PCs. There is additional software available that is generally updated as needed, which is not as often as for PCs. That being said, if your Mac does get a virus it is usually pretty serious and needs addressed as soon as possible.

Macintosh software can be easy to use - but if you are a long-time PC user it work it can be difficult to switch back and forth at home and then back at work, etc.

The nice thing about a "Mac" is that you can go into your local Apple store and get support and assistance, mostly free of charge depending on the extent of what you need. The associates there can show you what products to buy depending on the model you have at home and are very friendly and knowledgeable. Software can be expensive up front but tends to "last longer" as far as needing to be updated on your system.

--------------------------------------------------------------

PC computers tend to be cheaper up front. They require more set-up, some of which can be complicated for anyone "new" to having a computer. Anyone who has had a computer or used one at work has USUALLY had experience on this platform (versus a Mac). Some schools utilize PCs because of their low cost.

Because of their wide use, hackers tend to write viruses that target PCs. You generally have to purchase software that must be updated annually to ensure your computer is protected. This software can be expensive, especially if you get a serious virus and have to remove it from your computer system. These viruses can make your computer "laggy" or "slow" to run programs or access the internet.

PC software can be easy to use because of the tendency for it to be familiar because many businesses use PC computers.

The nice thing about PCs is that you can sometimes find cheap products such as mouses, keyboards, and even software at second-hand shops or if nothing else almost any chain store such as Walmart, Kmart, or Target for a reasonable price. You can buy "generic" items which are cheaper sometimes. Some PC software though you get what you pay for so consider your bottom line.

I have owned a PC and a Mac and I think the Mac is better. The Mac is not as likely to get a virus. The Mac also boots up a lot quicker than the PC. And you don't have to deal with Vista on a Mac!

It really depends on what you want. A Mac is really meant for doing work and research but can be partially used for gaming and other things. If you want a gaming computer you should really stick with PC as PC can run games a lot easier and most games are made for PC first. That being said however, Macs will run a lot quicker and easier as you don't need a anti virus program for them as there are only a few known viruses to mac versus the thousands of thousands of viruses for the PC. They both have their ups and downs but here's the thing that really blew me away. A mac starts up about 10 seconds after you hit the power button while the PC takes what about 5 minutes? My final point is that, I have had my mac for as long as my PC and I rarely use my PC anymore as it just ends up frustrating me because it doesn't load or encounters errors.

Don't let me make your decision though. If you know how to use a PC very well then stick with it but through personal experience Mac wins hands down...

Hope this helped!

Both of them have their advantages and disadvantages. It all boils down to personal preference.

The PC is best for gaming and work/school-related things.

The Mac is best for security, Photography and image editing.

Many modern households have both a PC/laptop and a Mac in them these days.

Visit a local computer store and a local Apple store. Most of them allow you to try their PCs/laptops and Macs. Have a go at both to see which you prefer.
