Spreadsheets have been used for hundreds of years and it is difficult to determine when someone first thought of this form for mathematical calculation.
In 1961 the idea of computerising this method of calculation was outlined in a paper by Richard Mattessich. Whether he actually thought of it first, or not, is impossible to tell.
In the late 60's / early 70's the concept was converted/developed into computer applications, and there are various contenders for the prize of being the first to invent this computerised model/format.

VisiCalc is the first spreadsheet application. It was released in 1979 for the Apple II computer. Many spreadsheet applications were developed after including SuperCalc (1980), Microsoft's MultiPlan (1982), Lotus 1-2-3 (1983), the spreadsheet module in AppleWorks (1984), and Microsoft Excel, which was introduced for theMacintosh in 1985.

Dan Bricklin and Bob Frankston jointly invented the first spreadsheet program, which was Visicalc. Normally Dan Bricklin is the one of them that is considered to be the father of the electronic spreadsheet.
If you mean who created or invented the electronic spreadsheet then the answer is the business student named Dan Bricklin and his friend, a programmer named Bob Frankston. They invented Visicalc which was the first Spreadsheet program in 1978.
There were a few things invented in 1978. These inventions include the artificial human heart, as well as the first computer spreadsheet.
The spreadsheet is a very handy tool for calculative and numerical operations. The first spreadsheet was introduced by Later Dan Bricklin and Bob Frankston in 1978 named "VisiCalc" and this word compressed from the phrase "visible calculator". The first spreadsheet has 5 columns and 20 rows. After "VisiCalc" the second spreadsheet is "Multiplan" which was introduced by Microsoft in 1982.
