the boot release is in the middle of the boot, you push the handle not pull
Give the spark plug boot a twist to free it from the spark plug then pull it off of the spark plug by the boot.
Boot Strap
A CV boot is found on the axle of a vehicle. To replace the outer boot remove the axle bolt and pull the boot off. The inner boot requires removal of the whole axle.
The wiring harness goes into a boot on the back of the headlight assembly. Twist the boot until the three-pronged tabs are aligned with the slots and pull the boot/bulb out of the headlight assembly. Pull the bulb out of the boot. Do not handle the new bulb with your fingers. Assembly is the reverse of the removal.
Pull on the boot.
it could be coming from the stickshift boot... underneath the leather is a flexible vinyl boot that commonly splits apart letting engine compartment air inside the cabin. Its easy to check just pull out ashtray and slideout tray below radio.. remove four screws... pull cover and boot up... inspect rubber under leather boot for cracks! If you need to remove boot pull off c-type clip and stick slides right off!
pull the trim off from inside the car and open boot !!
take your tire off, and look down your axle and you will see a boot.... There is a small clamp at each end of the boot. take those off, pull your boot off, then put new clamps on the new boot and put it back on...
1. Buy or make a new shifter boot. I bought mine here: http://www.newbeetle.org/forums/show...new+shift+boot 2. Pull up on the boot so you can see the underside of the shift knob 3. There is a metal ring holding the knob onto the shaft-thingy; somehow either bend this ring or cut it or something... just to get it loose enough to slide the knob off of the shaft (god, this sounds gay) 4. Next you have to pull off the black clamp-like thing that holds the boot onto the knob; to do this just hold the knob with one hand and pull down on the boot with the other hand; it should pull the clamp off 5. Now you can pull off the stock boot 6. The bottom of the stock boot is stapled to a square plastic ring that holds it to the center console - Just undo those staples and now you're free from your old, crappy boot 7. Slip the top of the new boot onto the knob and put the black clamp back on the knob to hold the boot in place 8. Attach the bottom of the boot to the square plastic ring (for this I used a hot glue gun; worked great) 9. Stick the knob (with new boot) back onto the shaft and use a pull-tie to replace the metal ring you took off earlier 10. Place the bottom of the boot back into the center console
Grip the boot and give it a half to full turn to break the grip that holds it on. There is a special tool made to pull the boots off with, it is best to use it after you break the boot free. If you don't have the tool then break the boot free by twisting and pull it off.
