Every hard disk has a different amount of GB for storage space. It depends on how many you want. They range from 4G (very old drive) to 4TB (4000G) but you have a picture of a SSD here and they are not that big yet.

I agree with Todd Trahan that the size can vary tremendously. The original hard drive for commonly-available personal computers was the Seagate ST-506, an MFM hard drive that had a capacity of only 5 megabytes (5,242,880 bytes). It was a 5-1/4-inch full-height (just shy of 4 inches) unit that weighed in around 4 pounds (if I remember correctly). Nowadays, hard drives are considerably smaller and have more tightly packed data on their much smaller platters.

Over the years, the way that hard drive sizes are denoted has changed. Originally, when one said that a drive was a 20-megabyte hard drive (such as the Seagate 225), it had an actual capacity of 20 megabytes (20, 971,520 bytes) or maybe a bit more. In the modern day, however, people have a habit of rounding down the size of a kilobyte to 1000 bytes instead of 1024, megabytes to 1 million instead of 1,048,576, and gigabytes to 1 billion instead of 1,073,741,824. So, the manufacturers have taken note of this and have started using the same commonplace rounding when it comes to hard drive size marketing. As such, a gigabyte in regard to hard drives now is actually 953.67 megabytes in size. A terabyte is similarly "shrunk" from 1,099,511,627,776 bytes to 1 trillion bytes, nearly a ten percent loss. As such, a modern 1 terabyte hard drive actually equates to only 931.32 gigabytes instead of 1024 gigabytes.

The largest hard drives that I have seen recently have been marketed as 6TB drives. Presuming that they are continuing the same pattern of rounding, that means that they are actually only about 5.45TB in capacity in actuality.
