The portable version of the iTunes application can be downloaded from Apple. There are versions for both Apple and Windows computers.
The portable version has a .dmg or .exe file format. The download page is found at http://www.apple.com/itunes/
After the iTunes application has been installed, it is not considered portable because there are many preferences and customizations that take place within the system which will not be moved along with the application in the Application Folder. The .dmg file also includes QuickTime, an application that iTunes needs to play some of the media types commonly used in computers. Simply moving iTunes will not include QuickTime.
