When you delete a book from Kindle cloud, it remains on all your devices. You can't delete a book from kindlle cloud reader. Insted, you have to go to amazon.com/myk and delete it there.

you delete it to your recycle bin and them right click on the item and press delete.

I go to Amazon.com first select the book and 'return' it. Then I can delete it from my kindle fire device and from also from my amazon account if I desire.
