It's very simply.. tartar sauce, with mustard and ketchup.

I love the sauce and when I decide to indulge and have a Big Mac. I always order it with extra sauce. My theory is this: why was this sauce created? To save time.. This is a "fast food" restaurant and making things faster is good for business. In order to save time assembling a burger, why not combine the ingredients into a "special sauce" therefore eliminating the ketchup, mustard, mayo and relish applied separately instead mix it all together and make one simple squirt of the sauce. I think that it was further simplified by using tartar sauce instead of mayo and relish. If you read the ingredients of the Mac sauce, and then read Tartar sauce, mustard and ketchup, there is only one difference between the Mac sauce and the other three, and that is the tomato. There is no tomato in Mac sauce, but I assume that this was taken out of the sauce at some point and substituted with coloring. But give it a shot.. try it at home.. I think you'll agree with the right combination of the three it will taste pretty close and its also very easy to make. Trust him, trust him, he's really right!
