The best way is to use partition manager like Cute Partition Manager (which is a free program) to create 2 separate sections of hard drive then install windows 2003 then reboot and install windows xp. when xp asks where you want it to be placed it will show an empty drive select that partition and install it there. After this is done you will see a screen when you start your computer that will ask you to select the operating system you want to load xp or 2003
Answer: First you boot with win xp CD and create two partition. then install win xp first in C: drive. after compleet instalation xp. then insert win 2003 disk when automatic boot with disk. select new oprating systems. after that follow screen instruction.
the best way is to partition your hard drive, or you could run a dual boot on the same drive. basically start in dos,type- fdisk /?. read all the help. you can also use a 3rd party prog such as partition magic / boot magic. their are many ways to do this some are MUCH BETTER THAN OTHERS, and none of the answers are short-especially if you are trying to keep the data you have. if you are going XP/98 you need to do 98 1st, the XP will take you through it for the 2nd OS. if your going xp/7, after xp is installed insert the 7 disk, and it will take you through it. I would have several partitions, 1ea-data,os1,os2,recovery etc
2. First install Windows 98.
3. After this, insert the XP CD and click on install.
4. You will get two options -- upgrade or new installation. Select new installation.
5. Click on advanced tab in the next window.
6. In that tab, choose "I will specify the drive" then go ahead.
7. Your system will reboot and then it will ask to format the drive in which you want to install XP. By doing this, you will get both OS running on the same machine.

Updated For Those Who Wish To Run Windows 98SE along with Windows XP on Hard Disks Greater than 40GB.
Since Windows98 only supports a Maximum 40GB Disk Size.
To create a partition, first, boot your computer with a Windows XP CD.
And now follow the above procedures!
1) Download Windows 7 (see related links)
2) Partition your hard drive:
In XP or Vista, go to the start menu, right click computer, and click Manage. Then click Disk Management, select the drive of which you want 7 installed in the bottom window. Assuming you have unpartitioned space on this drive, right click the unpartitioned space and hit an entry that somewhat means create a new partition, I think it says "create simple volume". This partition should have atleast 20GB space available to it.
3.) Installing Windows 7
Burn the ISO you downloaded from the Microsoft website, and boot from the DVD or whatever drive you put the ISO on. Once at the setup screen, select your language and keyboard design/setup/thing. Once that's done, click custom, and BE CAREFUL, be sure to select the partition you made! Or this will wipe the other partition. Then simply install and wait several hours for it to finish, after it's done, you can boot up your computer and you will see an entry for Windows 7 on your boot screen.
Now you can enjoy Windows 7 and still keep your XP OS :-)
