If the system restoration fails to restore you can try restoring your system to a different date. Also make sure there is enough disk space to do the system restore if not your computer will fail to restore.

What is a complete restoration of your system?

Windows Restoration restores your computer settings to that date you are restoring. It only restore the settings and there is no effect on the data. To do restoration:Click on Start -> Run and then enter "Msconfig" and press enter. It will open a configuration utility window. In general tab, you will find the "Launch System Restore". Click on it. It will open a window from where you can select the available dates to restore your windows. The available date will show in Bold letters. To use system restore, your drive must be system restore enabled. To check that, Right click on My Computer -> Properties. Click on System Restore tab and there you can see the drive which is enable for system restore. The status of a drive should be "Monitoring".

Can you change the system date so document Properties will reflect that date?

Document properties will always work from the date on the computer, so if you change the system date and open and save a file, it will use the system date for when it was changed. So changing the system date can affect document properties if you do something with the file.

Why did System restore deleted files in windows xp?

system restore does not delete files, instead, because it restores the system to an earlier date it reverts all the file paths and registry entries to that time, so if you loaded a file on to your computer, then restored it to a week before, then the file path will not exist because you have effectivley sent your computer back in time. the best thing to do is re-create the files, or restore your computer to the time you loaded the file on. system restore does not delete files, instead, because it restores the system to an earlier date it reverts all the file paths and registry entries to that time, so if you loaded a file on to your computer, then restored it to a week before, then the file path will not exist because you have effectivley sent your computer back in time. the best thing to do is re-create the files, or restore your computer to the time you loaded the file on.
