Depends what do you mean by "closing" Adobe Flash Player. The latest Safari version (4 version) launches external Flash Player. It is possible to end this process without having to Safari crash.

To do this, follow these instructions:

  • Open "Activity Monitor" application. It should be Applications -> Utilities folder.
  • In the "Process Name" look for "Flash Player (Safari internet plug-in)"
  • Select this process.
  • Press "Quit Process"
  • Select "Quit" or "Force Quit" button in pop-up window.
There is only one process for all Flash powered websites you are opened. So killing it kills all active Flash applications running on any Safari opened website. Refreshing website in the browser again launches Adobe Flash Player process.
