Unfortunately, the only way possible to crack winrar files is a brute force cracker. The disadvantages of this is that a brute force cracker uses a set of "dictionary words" and tries each one until it finds one that works. This process is first, time consuming, and second, doesn't alway work. If the actual password is not in the dictionary list the cracker uses, it won't find it.
Right click the file, go to Properties -> security tab -> advanced there are a plethora of choices. Put one choice and put a password. You can also encrypt it. Best is to zip in with Winzip or Winrar and then protect it via password.
