∙ 14y agoWhile 10.5.x may not be subject to the myriad of malware and viruses which target Windows, vulnerabilities are known for Quicktime, Java, and some Adobe products (Flash and Reader). The best defense against these vulnerabilities is to update your software updates regularly (10.5.8 is the latest version of 10.5), patch all third party software, and never work out of an account with administrative privileges.
Some of the vulnerabilities will allow for privilege escalation, and if you are logged in as an admin, then the attacker also has those rights. By working out of an account which can not make changes to the hard drive (and hence, the system), you mitigate this risk and usually the only data which can be altered is that within the user folder - so make backups.
Apple also provides security configuration manuals for 10.5 and 10.6 - search their support page.

∙ 14y agoAn iMac G5 can only run Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) it cannot run 10.6 (Snow Leopard) or 10.7 (Lion). So the answer must be 'No'.
No. The System Restore discs for a new iMac are specific to that model only.
If you are running Microsoft Office for Mac you need no security software just common sense. I do however recommend you install the Safari Extension Web Of Trust (WOT). You can also get it for other browsers. It will warn you of malicious web sites.
Not unless you are running Windows on your Mac. You do not need anti-virus software on your Mac slowing it down. There has never been a real world virus infect the Mac OSx. There have been a handful of malwares infect a Mac but if you are safe and smart they will not infect your Mac. Been using an iMac for 4 years without one infection and I run no security software.
MS Picture It is not available for Mac OS Leopard. To use it on an iMac you will need to install and run the Windows operating system.
No, the iMac has built in speakers on the bottom of the screen and a built in microphone.

Use Bootcamp, which comes preinstalled on the iMac, to install Windows on your iMac. You can the dual boot to Windows and play any Windows game you want. Know that you will have to install security software on the Windows partition if you go online of do email on that partition.
Buy the Leopard one. It will save trouble.
A new iMac will have Mac OS X 10.6 (known as Snow Leopard) installed. There have been a couple of updates to Snow Leopard and the current full number is 10.6.2. To check which version you have click on the Apple icon in the menu bar (left hand end), select About This Mac and check the Version number given. Select Software Update... from the Apple menu to see if any updates are available for your software.
You cannot run the newest OS on an older iMac with the Power PC processor. It must be running on the Intel processor. You can however update an older Mac with all the updates available for that model iMac. Just click the Apple icon and choose Software Update.
