Building a laptop from the ground up might be too challenging for most people. A better idea is to find a laptop that is no longer working (no power supply, ruined motherboard or shattered display) and replace a only few parts.

yes but the the individual parts would cost more than buying one from the store. unless you want to buy in quantity. it is also difficult to get laptop parts versus desktop parts. short answer, yes, will you save any money by doing so? no.

No, not really. Laptops are miniaturized and squeeze everything into a small space.

Unlike a desk system, the motherboard, keyboard, mouse pad and screen are all specific to a make and range of laptop computers.

The only interchangeable parts on laptops are the hard drive and optical drive units.

The same screens may be used across several makes of computers, but you will have severe problems with the plastic case.
