This is similar in principle to the cinematic technique of rear projection and can appear three-dimensional when using appropriate content. Holographic display:
Holographic display is a type of display technology that has the ability to provide all four eye mechanisms: binocular disparity, motion parallax, accommodation and convergence. It involves the use of a laser, interference, diffraction, light intensity recording and suitable illumination of the recording. The image changes as the position and orientation of the viewing system changes in exactly the same way as if the object were still present, thus making the image appear three-dimensional.
