It's WHO is Vint Cerf - and he's the guy you can thank for a good portion of the internet. He developed the TCP/IP protocol technology that gives us URL and web addresses to surf to - which, come to think of it, we should start calling it "web cerfing" to be really appropriate.

Who knows? The person I know who thought of it earliest was Pete Townshend of the Who. In the early 1970s he was working on a project called 'Lifehouse'. Which involved something similar to the internet. Obviously he wasn't creating the internet, he was creating music, but within the music was the basic idea of the internet.
