You can actually... as long as you have at least one adult sim, you can have more than three kid sims. Follow this:
CTRL+SHIFT+C-------- Brings up cheat window.
Type in:
1)boolprop testingcheatsenabled true------activates boolprop cheats (some do not work)
2)SHIFT-Click on the sim you are playing as and look through the options until you find "Spawn...". 3)Then click on that and look for "Tombstone of L and D". 4)A tombstone will appear near your sim. 5)Click on the tombstone and you can go from there. (I think the max # of sims you can have is eight.)
