No, the computer doesn't think for itself. You need to input something into the computer and tell it what to do. Programs are written instructions on how to run based on what the user inputs. The computer essentially does what you tell it to do very fast and spits out what you want it based on your inputs.

No. We are a long way yet of creating artificially intelligent computers (computers that think for themselves).

Computers can only perform 3 - 4 functions. Here are some:

  • Calculate
  • Process
  • Store memory
