An "Input Device" is anything that receives information and 'Inputs' it into the computer. The most basic are... * Keyboard * Mouse * Controller * Scanner * Microphone * Web Cam
A small pen-like device that uses pressure instead of ink is called a stylus. A stylus is used to operate touchscreen devices such as a Nintendo DS or an iPad.
Technically speaking, it isn't any more of either than your finger is an input device, or your lips an output device. The screen that the stylus is used on is both an input or an output device, sensing pressure from the stylus and displaying images as a result.
A stylus.
This is known as a tablet. It allows you to draw on your computer using a stylus. Also could be a light pen.

There are many different sizes of stylus. A stylus is just a pointing device. I have a stylus in my cell phone and I have a stylus on my tablet computer. Each are stored inside of their respective devices and, as such, they are different sizes. You will still be looking for a device called a stylus, you will just need to find one that is larger than what you have. You will need to understand the type of surface you are using to be able to get a stylus that will work with your device.
It sounds like you might be describing a stylus. Styluses are used with touchscreens to allow for more precise control and can resemble tiny pens made of metal or plastic. By applying pressure to the screen, styluses can simulate the touch of a finger.
I believe it was stylus writing. The device was called a stylus.
stylus
The stylus - is a pen-like object that's used to press 'virtual buttons' on the device's screen - or to input data. One example would be a parcel delivery driver. They would have the customer's details in their device - and the customer would use the stylus to 'sign' the screen, to confirm they've received their parcel.
