The John Deere 4000 Compact Utility tractors seems to be more compatible for small areas such as a small farms. There are other John Deere Tractors that are larger and more fit for multiple tasks on a larger area of land. Depending on the amount of work needed to be on and the size of the land, the type of tractor may vary.
When looking into buying a tractor you need to make sure it is of best quality for your farming needs. Look into getting the John Deere 4520 for large amounts of farming area.

Parts for a Ford 4000 tractor parts come in three forms. Used parts are available from Broken Tractor. Restored parts can be found through Tractor Part. Finally, specialty welders and tractor supply stores offer newly made parts that fit the 4000.
I got mine in the ford tractor 3000 repair manual i bought at the tractor parts store for about 24.00. Beware that Ford used a whole bunch of carbs on 3000 and 4000 models over the years. I also found a tractor parts/ repair store that would send off my carb and have it rebuilt for about 90.00 in 10 days, not bad...

John Deere was born in Rutland, Vermont in 1804. In 1837 he built the first steel plow, using steel from an old sawmill blade. By 1842 more than 100 plows were built. By 1852, Deere & Co. were located in Moline, Illinois and was producing 4000 plows per year. John Deere passed away in 1886 and the company was taken over by his son. In 1918 Deere & Co. acquired the Waterloo Gasoline Engine Company and were instantly in the tractor business.
