Should be now. Last i looked cars over 25 years old are exempt. Wrong own a 1977 and just had to smog it. 1975 and before are smog exempt
NO, Atleast not in california. Gov. Arhold put a stop to this in 2005 i believe... so only 1975 and earlier cars are smog exempt
1975 year model or older http://www.dmv.ca.gov/vr/smogfaq.htm
It's pretty safe to assume all pre-1975 cars are smog exempt.
Most states have exemptions for classic cars from smog regulations since none of them were designed with modern regulations in mind. In California which is typically the most stringent for smog regulations, 1965 Mustangs are exempt from smog checks.
No in California you need a car to be 1975 or older
No pre 76 so if you had a 75 or older only.
Smog inspections are required unless your vehicle is: * Hybrid * 1975 year model or older * Diesel powered * Electric * Natural gas powered and has a Gross Vehicle Weight rating of 14,001 lbs. or more. * Motorcycle * Trailer When changing ownership: http://www.dmv.ca.gov/pubs/brochures/fast_facts/ffvr32.htm General smog FAQ: http://www.dmv.ca.gov/vr/smog.htm
