It would be recommended to replace the rear axle bearings and axles when they are worn/bad. If the bearings and axles are okay, just replace the seals.
On a rear wheel drive vehicle, the rear axles transfer power from the rear differential to the rear wheels.
The rear wheels are bolted to the axles. The axles run through the inside of the rear end housing.
Remove wheels Remove brake lines Remove driveshaft Support rear end at axles Loosen and remove springs "U" Bolts
You have to buy the whole axle....cost about $486 on line from Coleman Equipment they do not sell individual parts. Kubota knows that these axles are only good for about 400 hours. this is some of the first junk that Kubota has made. Most of their stuff is good for at lease 2000 hours. Sad but true, the rear u joints can be bought on Ebay at about half price.
you need to remove the rear axle cover then remove gear holding bolt usually a 8mm bolt head then remove pin about a inch in diameter, turn rear gears until you can sccess c-clips from axle with magnet then remove rear whells and brake drums then pull the axles out.
depends if you are talking about the whole rear end or just the axles themselvs, and yes to both of them but if you take out 3/4 ton axles you will need 3/4 ton axles to put back in and so no. if you take the whole rear end of a 1/2 ton and put in a 3/4 ton rear end it should fit well
Remove axles and wheel with leverage bar. Remove caliber assembly. After removing the entire front mechanisms. Replace them with new, and reassemble tires.
You will need to remove the rear axles so, lift and support the rear of the truck. Remove both rear wheels and brake drums. Remove rear diff cover, you will need a drain pan to catch the gear oil. Remove spider lock bolt and spider pin. Remove both axle "C" retaining clips. Remove both axles. Now you can R & R the rear axle seals. Inspect the rear bearing wear surface on both axles. If you can feel a ridge where the bearing rides on the axle and/or that area is pitted, replace the axles and bearings as needed. Reassemble in reverse order. Fill diff with new gear oil.
