Some states will allow it only on private property, although the federal regs still prohibit it.even then, insurance companies may deny a claim resulting from an unlicenced operator driving a CMV. If the CMV is a registered farm or recreational vehicle, a CDL is not required, although licencing requirements vary from state to state- some states may require a non-CDL equivalent licence, while others may have their own licencing requirements.

DOT says you can operate a commercial vehicle within a 50-mile radius of the vehicle's home location. This was intended so farmers could take crops to their point of sale without needing a CDL.

What is the differense between a CDL and CMV?

CDL stands for Commercial Drivers Licence. It's the licence you must hold to operate a CMV. CMV stands for Commercial Motor Vehicle, and is the vehicle itself.

How old do you have to be to get a commercial drivers license in the state of Ohio?

18 and already holding a valid Ohio drivers license. If you get a CDL before you're 21, you'll get an "intrastate only" restriction which prohibits you from operating a CMV outside of your home state, and you will not be able to get a hazmat endorsemen.

Can you have a ca commercial drivers license and a marijuana prescription?

You cannot operate a CMV with marijuana in your system, even with a prescription. While some states have chosen to allow medical marijuana, it's still illegal under federal law. Likewise, commercial vehicles are governed by federal law - the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations - even if operated in only an intrastate capacity.

How old must you be to get your cdl license to become a truck driver?

You can get one at 18, but you won't be able to operate a CMV outside of your home state, nor will you be able to get a hazmat endorsement (not to mention your prospects of being hired as a CMV operator at 18 are pretty slim). To be able to operate a CMV in interstate operations, you must be 21.

Can you operate a commercial vehicle without USDOT when pulling a recreational trailer?

No. To be exempt from CMV requirements and regulations, the vehicle must be registered as a recreational vehicle.

Would being forced to assist a police officer in a cmv roadside inspection be considered indentured servitude wouldn't that also be forcing a trucker to violate the 5 th amendment?

None of your reasoning applies because when you apply for a commercial drivers license, you give consent to those things and if you dont consent when asked, you loose your license.

Could you obtain a cdl license with having eplisey the doctor cleared you for a drivers license?

No. And you really need to drop this notion now. You do not need to be behind the wheel of any vehicle - let alone a CMV - when you have an epileptic seizure.

How old do you have to be to get your CDL license in Massachusetts?

CDLs are regulated at the federal level, not the state level. You can get a CDL at 18 in any state. However, in order to operate a CMV outside your state of residence and/or to get a hazmat endorsement, you must be 21.

At what age can you drive truck out of state?

As in a commercial vehicle? You can get a CDL at 18, but you'd be restricted to the state which issued your licence. You must be at least 21 to operate a CMV in interstate operations.

How old to you have to be to get your cdl in Chicago?

You can get a CDL in any state (your city is irrelevant) at 18. However, you would only be able to operate a CMV within the state of Illinois. In order to operate a CMV in interstate commerce or to get a hazmat endorsement, you must be 21.

Could you Drive trailer while having a DUI?

With a DUI conviction, you typically lose your license. In some states, it is possible to apply for a restricted license which would allow you to get to and from work, but only for that purpose - you can't use it to drive vocationally, and, if you have a CDL, it does not reinstate your privilege to operate a CMV.

How old do you have to be to get a cdl license in Texas?

CDLs are federally regulated - minimum ages are not state specific. In any state or territory of the US, you must be 18 to get a CDL. However, between the ages of 18 and 20, any CDL issued will come with an "intrastate only" restriction, which permits you to operate a commercial vehicle only within the state issuing your licence. To be able to operate a CMV across state lines, and/or to get a hazmat endorsement, TWIC card, etc., you must be 21.
