The optimistic Tohru Honda is the main character. She was orphaned when her mother died in a car crash. She lived with her grandfather. When he had to have his home remodeled, she went to stay in a tent so not to be a burden on anyone. Through a chain of events, which included her tent being destroyed, she came to stay with some members of the Sohma family. My favorite character is Kagura Sohma, solely for her ability to withstand all obstacles and her ability to be strong enough to accept that all that she had worked for is for naught. Her caring attitude and her eventual friendship with the flawless (and, frankly, ANNOYING) Tohru make her even more admirable, in my opinion.
