His Contract was nearing the end, and as it suggests his nickname, Mr WrestleMania indicated his go would be WrestleMania.

Every Career comes to an end. Someday, Randy Orton, Triple H and other will have to leave. Shawn Michaels had several Injuries and Surgey performed on him and wanted to have time off now. He mainly spends time with his family.

A Comment from Shawn Michaels from his Returned included;

i think it's because triple h hate's Shawn and he don't like Shawn in d generation x. Triple h is very very very very very very selfish he love legacy and Orton more than Shawn...........that's for them.for evolution he is really really really really really selfish. thank you.
