facsimile autograph

A "reprint" or facsimile autograph is not really a fake. It is not meant to fool anyone into thinking it is real. It is a pre printed signature usually used on Souvenirs, promotional photos, Postcards, sports equipment, advertising etc.

A pre-print, or Facsimile is simply a photographic copy of an original signed photograph. A pre-print signature often appears to be below the surface gloss of the photo, and the signature is often very "flat." Hold the photo up at an angle to a light source. A real signature is written on the surface of the photo, and should have a different level of reflectivity than the rest of the surface. A pre-print will blend right in with the surface because it's underneath the surface gloss.

It is when you get someone's autograph, but it was just a copy of it so its not the original so in autograph collecting, they call it reprints, instead of copies.

A preprinted autograph is the celebrity's autograph, but its not the real thing. It is probably printed somewhere and just given out by their agents.

A replica autograph is when somebody famous signs something. Then later, someone who is not famous sign over the famous persons autograph. A replica means a copy but not the official thing.
