Sheets of stamps are printed using plates. Each plate is numbered to insure they know which plate was used so they can correct errors and problems. The number shows up on the edges of the sheet. The post office knows exactly how many sheets were printed on each plate and collectors therefore know what the rarity of the various sheets are. A Plate Block is four or more stamps in a block with the excess paper with the number on it. Most plates print four sheets on a single sheet of paper, so that there are four possible positions for Plate Blocks.

Why would an artist cancel a plate or block?

An artist may cancel a plate or block if they are unsatisfied with the results of the print, if there are technical issues with the plate or block, or if they have changed their mind about the image they want to create. Cancelling a plate or block allows the artist to prevent any further prints from being made and start fresh if needed.

Can a catcher in slow pitch softball block the plate if theres a play at home?

No player including the catcher is allowed to block the base unless he has the ball. It would be defensive interference and the runner would be safe. The rule is generally not enforced if the ball and the runner arrive at the same time. The reason home plate is somewhat different than second or third is because a runner does not need to remain on home plate where at second and third, overrunning the bag could allow the runner to be tagged out.

What is a mint plate block of stamps?

Is Mount Everest a fault block mountain?

Mount Everest is not a fault block mountain; it is a fold mountain. It was formed through convergent tectonic plate movement, where the Indian Plate is colliding with the Eurasian Plate, causing the Himalayan mountain range to rise up. Fault block mountains are formed from the uplift of large blocks of the Earth's crust along fault lines.
