Many jewellers make rings using precious metal coins. Some of the ones that advertise on the internet are CoinCrafter, Coin Coin Designs and The Coin Smith. Some coin rings are made by attaching a small coin to a ring, and other designs are made by reworking the coin itself into the shape of a ring.

The British 20 Pence coin was first issued in 1982, and general circulation coins have the following specifications - 20 Pence - 21.4 mm diameter, 1.7 mm thick, weigh 5 grams and are made from 84% copper and 16% nickel, and are seven sided or heptagonal. The edge is plain. The British 20 Pence coin has maintained the same specifications since its first issue.

1p & 2p coins are made of copper-plated steel. 5p 20p & 50p coins are made of copper-nickel. £1 coins are made of brass. £2 are brass on the outer ring and nickel on the inner portion The coin was initially minted from bronze, but since 1992 it has been minted in copper-plated steel except for a few months in 1998 when bronze was used again. As copper-plated steel is less dense than bronze, post-1992 coins have been slightly thicker. The coin weighs 7.12 grams and has a diameter of 25.9 millimetres. The 2p coin is currently 93% mild-steel and 7% copper.

They're made from two separate pieces ! The outer 'ring' is heated so it expands, and the inners are inserted. When the outer ring cools, it shrinks forming a VERY tight fit.
No you do not have to pay off the ring to get the ring. You have to make a down payment to get the ring after that you just make payments.
