More 24,000 British and American Paratroopers & Glider troopers landed behind the lines. infantrymen of the 2nd and 5th Ranger Battalion were there. There were the Canadians, the British and a small team of Free French troops. What THAT means is 195,701 Allied men were in D-Day.
The basic Rifle Squad consisted of 9-12 men lead by one NCO(Sergeant) and a corporal. The size of a squad in a Parachute regiment may be smaller.
