Unfortunately, no. Coins whose dates have been worn off are usually considered culls and are not worth more than face value. You might however consider keeping your nickels as conversation pieces, which might create more interest than simply depositing them in the bank.

The date area on Buffalo nickels was relatively high with respect to the rest of the design and tended to wear off quickly, so a large number of the remaining coins that turn up are like yours.

Is there a buffalo nickel without the Indian head?

There aren't any nickels called "buffalo head" coins. They're referred to as "buffalo nickel" or "Indian Head nickels" but not "buffalo head" because it shows the whole animal on the back, LOL. So many buffalo nickels were made that most circulation issues aren't very valuable except in top-quality condition. There are several valuable error coins, though - please see the Related Question for more details.

Is there a buffalo nickel without a date?

No, but due to where the date was and how high it was raised, many buffalo nickels have had their dates worn off through circulation.

What is the value of 500 uncirculated buffalo nickels?

It's not possible to answer without knowing the coins' date(s).

Is a 1937 buffalo nickel without a mint mark rare?

No. The 1937-Philadelphia is actually the second most common date of all buffalo nickels at 79.5 million.

How much are buffalo head nickels without any dates on them worth?

They usually sell for about 10 to 15 cents. Crafty people use them to decorate belts and make domed buttons. Note that these coins are called Buffalo Nickels or Indian Head Nickels, but not "Buffalo Head" nickels. After all, they show the whole buffalo and not just its head! ========================= The mint mark will be located on the back side under the words FIVE CENTS. Nickels minted in Philadelphia do not have a letter, though. Also, nickels minted from 1913 to 1925 had a design flaw that allowed their dates to wear off quickly. Unfortunately these "cull" nickels aren't worth much more than face value. The link below lists prices.

Us silver buffalo nickel worth?

Buffalo nickels were never made out of silver, only cupronickel. Please post a new question with the coin's date and whether there is a small D or S below the words FIVE CENTS on the back. Without that information it's not possible to determine a value.

What is the value of a buffalo head nickel with a D mint mark?

Please check your coin again and post a new, separate question with its date. Buffalo* nickels were minted at Denver from 1913 to 1938 so it's not possible to give a specific answer without that information.(*) The coin is called a buffalo nickel or an Indian head nickel, but not "buffalo head" because it shows the entire animal :)

What is the value of an undated US buffalo head nickel?

To clear things up, the coins are called Indian head or Buffalo nickels, not "buffalo head". After all, they show the whole animal on the back, not just its head! Buffalo nickels had a design defect that caused the dates to wear off quickly. Unfortunately without the date you have what's called a "cull" with very little value. Buffalo culls sell for perhaps 15 to 25 cents in a dealer's grab box.

What is the value of a 1883 buffalo nickel?

Not 1883. The first buffalo nickels were made in 1913. Please check your coin again and post a new question. If your coin has a large V on the back (quite different from a buffalo, I'm sure you'd agree), include in your question whether the word "CENTS" appears at the bottom of the design. Some 1883 Liberty nickels were made with that word and some without, and the variety affects its value.

How do you determine the date of a buffalo nickel if it's worn off?

Buffalo nickels had a design defect that caused the date to wear off quickly. Unfortunately there's nothing you can do to recover the date without further damaging the coin. The only option is a mild acid called Nic-A-Date that can etch away some of the top metal to possibly recover a readable date from metal that flowed below the coin's surface under the pressure of being struck in the coin press. The acid will destroy any collectible value the coin might have had IF the date were visible, but dateless nickels are considered culls with a maximum value of 10 to 25 cents anyway. At least you can know the date without trashing a valuable coin.

Are there any reports of a 1978 nickel with no mint mark?

Yes, there are instances of 1978 Jefferson nickels without a mint mark. This is due to a mint error where the nickel was struck without the mint mark. These error coins can sometimes be valuable to collectors.

How much would a 1936 buffalo nickel encased in plastic or acrylic arrowhead be worth?

Since you can't remove it without damaging it, it really has no effective collector value. In any case 1936 is a fairly common year for buffalo nickels* - if you could get it out of the plastic it might sell for a dollar or two.
