there is tons of adventure and excitement in these books, and although each yarn follows the same storyline, it is never boring or feels repetitive. the creatures are all extremely well developed, so, as they say, the good guys seem like old friends. you can see the vermin before your eyes. that's how descriptive Brian Jacques was with his wonderful books, until he died February 5th. still mourning. you can't imagine how i felt when my favourite characters died...like Russa Nodrey from the long patrol, or Cregga Rose Eyes from Marlfox, The Long Patrol, The Taggerung and the Pearls of Lutra. they felt like such dear friends, it's amazing how many feelings Brian can pull up by putting pen to paper.
