Coal is a non-renewable fossil fuel that, when burned, releases harmful emissions like carbon dioxide and sulfur dioxide, contributing to air pollution and climate change. Mining and burning coal also have negative impacts on local ecosystems and public health, making it an unsustainable energy source in the long term. Transitioning to cleaner and more sustainable energy sources like renewables is essential to mitigate these environmental and health risks.
