The most common way to generate hydrogen gas in the school lab in my experience is to combine zinc (in a form called mossy zinc that has a very large surface area) with hydrochloric acid.

If you intend to collect the gas for use later, you use a method called collecting gas over water.

Methane can be prepared in a laboratory by reacting sodium acetate with sodium hydroxide to form sodium acetate, then adding sulfuric acid to produce methane gas. This method is commonly used for small-scale laboratory preparations.

Sodium ethanoate (CH3COONa)and Soda lime(NaOH) in the presence of Calcium oxide(CaO) and 300 degree Celsius will give Sodium carbonate(Na2CO3) and methane(CH4). methane is collected by downward displacement of water as it is only slightly soluble in water and is lighter than air.

as it is, methane is an alkane, and every alkane has the same method of preparation. It is prepared by reacting a caustic alkali eg. soda lime( deliquisent NaOH ) with ethyl ethanoate

it's unlikely that there is one. if you made chlorine gas in a lab it would kill you so scientists tend to avoid making it

What is the chemical equation for the laboratory preparation of ammonia?

The chemical equation for the laboratory preparation of ammonia is: N2(g) + 3H2(g) → 2NH3(g)

Why is methane used for Bunsen burners?

Methane is used for Bunsen burners because it burns cleanly with a blue flame, providing a consistent and controllable source of heat for laboratory experiments. It also produces less soot and smoke compared to other fuels, making it ideal for use in a controlled environment like a laboratory.

What is the preparation of hydrogen?

Hydrogen gas is typically produced by steam methane reforming or electrolysis of water. In steam methane reforming, methane reacts with steam at high temperatures to produce hydrogen and carbon monoxide. In electrolysis, water is split into hydrogen and oxygen using an electric current.

How is ammonia gas collected in the laboratory preparation of ammonia gas?

Ammonia gas is collected by upward displacement of air in the laboratory preparation. This involves passing the gas over water and collecting it by downward displacement because ammonia is lighter than air. The gas is then bubbled through water to dissolve any remaining gas before use.

Which is not a preanalytical variable that can affect the accuracy and precision of laboratory test results?

The type of laboratory equipment used is not typically considered a preanalytical variable that can affect the accuracy and precision of laboratory test results. The main preanalytical variables include patient preparation, specimen handling, and time delays.
