Absolute- Actual Age of a rock

Relative- The age of something compared to other things

Relative age does not tell how old something is but tells us in what order events have happened

relative- the age of a rock or fossil compared to the surrounding rocks and fossil

An absolute weight refers to the actual numerical value of a weight measurement (e.g., 10 lbs). In contrast, a relative weight is a weight measurement expressed in relation to another weight or a reference point (e.g., 20% heavier).

A relative weight takes other factors into consideration. For example, if a dog-and-pony show awards the winner based on attractiveness relative to manners, with attractiveness weighted relatively higher than manners, this means the winner will need to be both attractive and have manners, with more points awarded for attractiveness. If attractiveness has an absolute weight in deciding the winner, then the best looking dog and pony will win, even if they have no manners. The actual relativety of attractiveness to manners would depend on the weighting applied to each, but the higher the weight for attractives, the lower would be the weight for manners, and vice-versa. Think of them as unequal parts that make up a defined whole.

Absolute is when you have something that is exact, or perfectly right, and relative magnitude would be something that would be close to the real thing, but maybe a few degrees off.

Relative gain is one groups gain is equal to another groups loss, Absolute gain- each state seeks to maximize its own gains and is less concerned about the gains of others.

The absolute weight (mass) is the mass measured in air, on a balance, on the Earth.

The relative weight (mass) is the mass of an object on an another planet or cosmic object.

Explain the difference between absolute and relative power.?

Absolute power refers to unlimited authority and control over others, often associated with dictatorship or totalitarian regimes. In contrast, relative power is the measure of influence one entity has in comparison to others, taking into account the power dynamics within a specific context or relationship. Relative power is more nuanced and can be influenced by factors such as resources, relationships, and situational dynamics.

A machine is used to fill bags with sand. The average weight of a bag filled with sand is 22.3 pounds. Write an absolute value function describing the difference between the weight of an average bag o?

The absolute value function to describe the difference between the weight of a bag and the average weight of 22.3 pounds would be |x - 22.3|. The function will output the absolute value of the difference between the weight of a bag and 22.3 pounds, regardless of whether the actual weight is greater or less than the average weight.

What is absolute peak anaerobic power?

Absolute peak anaerobic power is how much power (in Watts) a person can exert at one time. There are many ways that absolute peak power can be measured but a common way is a 30 sec wingate test which is done on an exercycle. Absolute peak power differs from relative peak power as relative peak power takes into account the persons weight, where as absolute doesnt. Therefore the bigger and stronger you are, the higher your absolute Pp would generally be. But when converted to relative Pp (absolute Pp/weight), you have a Pp relative to each person - not worrying about the persons own weight so you can compare using this.

What is absolute and relative error?

An absolute measurement is based on first principle measurements. Most measurements are comparison. An absolute measurement doesn't rely on calibration of the instrument. For example wavelength measurements can be made without calibration by looking at the number of beats per seconds (Hertz). Absolute error is the magnitude of the difference between the exaxt value of the value measured. It can be expressed as a number, e.g. the molecular weight measured is 27 000 grams per moles while the known molecular weight of the structure is 27 500, the absolute error is 500 grams per mole.

What is the differences between the absolute threshold and the differential threshold Which is more important to marketers?

The absolute threshold is the minimum intensity of stimulus required to be perceived. In other words, it is the intensity amount which is needed to detect the difference between nothing and something. It is the lowest level at which an individual can experience a sensation. On the other hand, the minimal difference that can be detected between two stimuli is called the difference threshold or the j.n.d. (just noticeable difference)The main difference between the two concepts is that the differential threshold is a relative concept. Whereas the absolute threshold deals with whether or not a stimulus can be perceived, the differential threshold refers to the intensity difference needed between two stimuli before people can perceive that the stimuli are different. The marketing implication of absolute threshold is that consumers will only perceive a marketing stimulus when it is higher than absolute threshold. In other words, if images or words in a commercial are too small, consumer's sensory receptors will not ve activated and the stimulus will not be perceived. The differential threshold also has very important marketing applications Difference Threshold: The difference threshold, also known as the just noticeable difference (jnd), is the minimum difference in stimulation that a person can detect 50 percent of the time. We experience the difference threshold as a just noticeable difference. For example, let's say I asked you to put your hand out and in it I placed a pile of sand. Then, I add tiny amounts of sand to your hand and ask you to tell me when you notice any change in the overall weight. As soon as you can detect any change in the weight, that difference between the weight of the sand before I added that last bit of sand and the amount of sand after I added it, is the difference threshold. The absolute threshold is the minimum intensity of stimulus required to be perceived.
