The best characterised hydroxide is Mn(OH)2 (name manganese(II) hydroxide)

let's consider the Mn as X

each oxygen=(-2)

each hydrogen= +1

you add them all together x+(-4)+2=0

x=0

Simpler way if you know the formula of the hydroxide ion OH- then manganese must be +2

What is the oxidation numbers of manganese in MnO4 1-?

The oxidation number of manganese in MnO4 1- is +7. Each oxygen atom has an oxidation number of -2, and the overall charge of the ion is -1. Therefore, the oxidation number of manganese can be calculated as +7 to balance the charges.

What is the oxidation number of O in MnO4?

The oxidation number of oxygen (O) in MnO4 is -2. To find the oxidation number of manganese (Mn) in MnO4, we use the fact that the sum of the oxidation numbers in a compound is zero (since MnO4 is a polyatomic ion). Therefore, Mn must have an oxidation number of +7 in this compound.

What is the oxidation number for MnO4-2?

manganese is a metal element. It shows +4 in Mno4 ompouund.

What is the oxidation number of manganese in MnO42?

The oxidation number of manganese in MnO4^2- is +7. This is because the oxidation number of oxygen is -2, and the overall charge of the ion is -2, so the oxidation number of manganese can be calculated as +7 to balance the charges.

What is the oxidation number in MnO4?

K has an oxidation number of +1 O has an oxidation number of (-2) x 4 So... the oxidation number for Mn is whatever is needed to make 1-8 equal to zero. Therefore, the oxidation number for Mn is +7

What is the oxidation number of manganese in 1 mole of permangante?

The oxidation number of manganese in 1 mole of permanganate (MnO4-) is +7. Each oxygen atom has a charge of -2 and the overall charge of the ion is -1, so the oxidation number of manganese can be calculated as +7.

What are the oxidation numbers of the atoms in the MnO4- ion?

For the MnO4- ion, the oxidation number of oxygen is typically -2. Since the overall charge of the ion is -1, the oxidation number of manganese (Mn) must be +7 to balance out the charges.

What is the oxidation state for manganese in Mn?

The oxidation state for manganese in Mn is 0, since it is in its elemental form.

What is the oxidation number of MN in 2MnO4-?

I assume you mean the oxidation number of Mn in the permanganate ion , MnO4- The sum of the oxidation numbers is the charge on a polyatomic ion so Mn has an oxidation number of +7 as each O is assigned -2.

Oxidation number manganese in manganese oxide?

The oxidation number of manganese in manganese oxide (MnO) is +2. This is because oxygen typically has an oxidation number of -2 and in a neutral compound like manganese oxide, the oxidation numbers must add up to zero. Hence, manganese must be in the +2 oxidation state to balance the -2 oxidation state of oxygen.

What is the oxidation state of manganese in potassium manganate?

The oxidation state of manganese in potassium manganate is +6. This is because each potassium manganate molecule contains one manganese atom in the +6 oxidation state.

What is the Oxidation state for manganese in MnO2?

The oxidation state for manganese in MnO2 is +4. Oxygen typically has an oxidation state of -2, so the sum of the oxidation states in MnO2 would be 0. Since there are two oxygen atoms with an oxidation state of -2 each, the manganese atom must have an oxidation state of +4 to balance the equation.
