-noun Chemistry . A yellowish, orange-brown, granular solid (or solution), C14 H14 N3 Cl: used chiefly in medicine as an antiseptic. It is usually obtainable at a pharmacy without prescription, then applied topically on a cut or bruise (with a cotton swab or similar), to help get rid of germs and bacteria.

It stains the area yellowish orange for a while though.

It is relatively effective for small scrapes, cuts and bruises. It can be applied once every 12 hours (preferable after the cut/bruise has been gently washed with soap and water)

Also called neutral acriflavine, euflavine, trypaflavine neutral.
